The dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy defines this term in the following form: A game between 2 persons, each of them having 16 movable pieces placed on the board divided into 64 squares. The winning play is the play, which by sizing some of the pieces of the opposition and prohibiting the movement of others manages to open up the way towards the defended king and give him a checkmate. According to some historians and writers the chess as a game is of Egyptian origin. The "Table" games, predecessors of the actual game of chess appear already in the paintings, embossments as well as in the household furniture of nobles and pharaohs in the graves of the Old Empire and the Medium Empire. The most known testimony is the board and pieces found in the grave of Tutankhamen, the young pharaoh of the XVIII dynasty (XIV B.C).

Gold Silver Bronze:
This extraoridinary chessboard has been made using the very same ancient technique that was used by egyptians centuries ago - each piece have been made using polished graphite covered by a layer of 24-carate gold - the "White pieces" are covered by 20 µ layer of .999 silver with 4 µ of 24-carate gold, while the "Black pieces" are covered by 40 µ layer of bronze with 4 µ of 24-carate gold.
The dark squares have been created with a powder of blue lapis lazuli with different mixture to create a homogenous effect, exactly as the ancient goldsmiths of Egypt did (just have a look at the photos!)
