Overview

There is no other object that evokes better the tragedy and magnificence of the young king than the mask of gold. This is without any doubt an exceptional artwork and an example of supreme ability of the Egyptian goldsmiths. When they opened the tomb made of pure massive gold, the archaeologists found a mummy covered by huge quantity of creams. "In the contrast with the dark and shadowy effect created by the creams one could see a magnificent golden polished mask, the indication of the king, which was covering his head and shoulders".

Material

24 carate Gold and Lapis Lazuli:

This extraoridinary sculpture has been made using the very same ancient technique that was used by egyptians centuries ago - polished graphite with the aspect of black basalt covered by layers of bronze. The face of Tutanhamen has been further covered by a layer of 24-carate gold.

The blue finishes have been created by filling out the empty spaces with a powder of blue lapis lazuli with different mixture to create a homogenous effect, exactly as the ancient goldsmiths of Egypt did. Additionally thanks to different patinas and sand, the obtained result is so spectacular and resembles the real Head of young Tutankhamen (just have a look at the photos!)
